Pre-Stretch Film Wrap for Hand Application

Pre-stretched stretch wrap is a hand film that has been stretched during manufacturing to near its elastic limit. This means the worker applies less physical force during wrapping, reducing hand and back fatigue. Pre-stretched film is also lighter per roll, delivers consistent tension across the load, and often uses less plastic per pallet compared to standard hand stretch film.

Stretch film wrap is used to unitize and stabilize pallet loads for storage and shipping, preventing shifting, tipping, and product damage. It also provides dust and moisture protection, improves load integrity during transit, enables inventory color-coding with colored variants, and bundles smaller items or cases together efficiently in warehouse and distribution environments.

Hand stretch film is available in gauges of 47, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, and 115 gauge. The 80 ga is the most common everyday warehouse standard. Lighter gauges suit lighter loads and reduce material costs, while heavier gauges (90–115 ga) are better suited for sharp-cornered, heavy, or unstable pallet loads requiring maximum puncture resistance.

Cast stretch film offers a quieter unwind, clearer appearance, and more consistent gauge, making it easier to apply by hand. Blown stretch film has higher puncture and tear resistance, making it the preferred choice for heavy, irregularly shaped, or sharp-cornered loads. Both types are available in standard widths and gauges for manual hand application.

Hand stretch film is available in 12-inch, 15-inch, 18-inch, and 20-inch standard widths. The 12-inch width is ideal for bundling and small loads. The 18-inch and 20-inch widths are the most widely used for standard pallet wrapping. All widths are compatible with hand-held dispensers including extended-handle, brake-tension, and ergonomic models.
