Pre-Stretch Film Wrap for Hand Application

Pre-stretched stretch wrap is film that has already been elongated during manufacturing, up to 90% of its maximum stretch. This reduces the physical effort required during hand application, lowers the risk of worker fatigue and injury, and provides a consistent, lighter-weight wrap. Because less force is needed to apply it, pre-stretched film is ideal for high-volume manual wrapping environments.

Stretch film wrap secures products on pallets to prevent shifting, tipping, or damage during handling and transportation. It also provides dust and moisture protection, enables load unitization, and — when colored or tinted — supports inventory identification and organization. It is a standard packaging material across warehouses, distribution centers, 3PLs, and retail back-of-house operations.

For light loads and bundling, 47–60 gauge film is typically sufficient. Standard warehouse pallet wrapping uses 70–80 gauge, which balances film cost with load security. Heavy, irregular, or sharp-cornered loads benefit from 90–115 gauge or blown film, which offers superior puncture and tear resistance. Cast stretch film unwinds quietly, has a more consistent gauge, and is easier to stretch by hand — making it the most common choice for general warehousing. Blown stretch film offers higher puncture and tear resistance with greater memory (cling), making it preferred for heavy, sharp-cornered, or irregular loads. Both are available in LLDPE and can be applied using standard hand dispensers.

Standard widths include 12 in (bundling and small loads), 15 in, 18 in, and 20 in (the most common for full pallet wrapping). Standard roll lengths range from 500 ft to 1,500 ft, with 1,000 ft being the typical warehouse option. Wider rolls cover more surface per revolution, while longer rolls reduce changeover frequency in high-volume applications.
